About Our Founder

Trusted by Parents. Proven with Students.

Welcome to Action Test Prep. I’m Angie, the founder of Action Test Prep and Tutoring, and for over 15 years I’ve worked closely with families to help their children reach their full potential on the SAT and ACT. As a Princeton graduate with a lifelong passion for education, I’ve made it my mission to provide targeted, highly personalized tutoring that delivers results — both in scores and in confidence.

That’s why so much of my business comes from extraordinary word-of-mouth referrals. Families see the difference, and they share their experience.

At Action Test Prep all tutors score in the top 1%, but our real strength is personalizing each session to meet your child’s unique goals.  We work hard to understand their situation, earn their trust, reduce their anxiety, and help them find their voice and confidence.

If you’re looking for tutors who combine elite credentials, proven track records, and the ability to connect on a personal level, you’re in the right place.  Let’s work together to give your child the tools — and the mindset — to succeed.

FAQs

What makes Action Test Prep different from other tutoring services?

Action Test Prep is a boutique, one-on-one tutoring service founded and led by a Princeton graduate with over 15 years of experience.

We prefer to work in 90-minute sessions.  We find it to be the most efficient timeframe for producing effective and lasting results. In-person sessions are conducted at our Charlotte, NC location and virtual sessions are conducted on our interactive platform for students in New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and the rest of the country.

Results vary based on starting point, consistency, and commitment — but most students see significant gains in both SAT and ACT scores. What parents consistently report is not just score improvement, but increased confidence, reduced anxiety, and better overall academic habits.

Yes. Our tutors bring equal strength and expertise to the math and verbal sections of the SAT and ACT, which allows for more cohesive, efficient prep — and fewer tutors to manage.

Every student begins with a conversation about goals, strengths, challenges, and prior testing experience. We then build a customized plan focused on that student’s needs—no generic curriculum or rigid templates. Ongoing adjustments are made based on performance and feedback.

We work with a wide range of students — from high achievers aiming for top-tier scores to those who struggle with test anxiety or specific subject areas. Our goal is always the same: to help each student perform to their fullest potential.

This depends on the student’s starting point and goals. We find that for best results with the least amount of stress, the summer before junior year in high school generally works well; however, that is just a suggestion and other schedules are possible.

It is up to the student to register to take the tests. While some schools do provide a school-wide test day for their students for the SAT or ACT, most do not.

To register for the SAT, which is administered by the CollegeBoard, a student must create his or her own online account here. This account will allow a student to register for upcoming testing dates, check his or her SAT results, and also see AP scores if he/she chooses to take AP exams (which are also administered by the CollegeBoard).

To register for the ACT, which is administered by the ACT organization (completely different from the ColllegBoard), a student must create his or her account here. This account will allow a student to register for upcoming ACT test dates and check his or her scores.
